There is an article in the winter 2006 issue of Children & Libraries about digital storytimes. A research project was taken in Chicago with four-year-olds. It’s interesting in the concept and findings. Take a look.
You can find the article in Ebsco’s Academic Search Elite database in pdf format.

ALA has announced the award winning books and videos for youth. You can read the list on their web site or view the video. I’ve read some of these books already, and really enjoyed them.
Which of these have you read or do you want to read?
The teen registration gift from ODL will be water bottles. The bottles will have the teen slogan “Travel Without Moving” along with the drawing of the character. ODL is ordering the water bottles now with a turn around time estimated at 3 – 4 weeks.
System libraries will receive their boxes directly from the manufacture. Other libraries that ordered 100 or more will also receive theirs from the manufacturer as well. ODL will either mail to the remaining libraries or they will be brought to the SRP workshops for pickup.
I’m probably the only person excited by this. The Sonic coupons are here! As usual we will mail them out to you. If I’m coming to your library before mailing begins, I will bring them with me.
An e-mail was sent out letting everyone know about this blog and the forums. During the summer reading workshops I will discuss navigating the forums and the blog.
You can sign up for the workshops online.
The manual will be online is almost ready. The presenters will also be online and after a few cosmetic changes will be available.
Thank you all for your patience.
ODL closed Friday morning, along with just about everyone else in the state.
Hope everyone is safe and warm.
Talk to you again soon!
It’s time start thinking about 2009 and 2010 summer reading programs. The Collaborative Summer Library Program is asking for
- Suggestions from the participating libraries for slogans for 2009. The general theme is music and the arts.
- They are also taking suggestions for the general theme for 2010.
You can add your suggestions either in the comments to this post or an e-mail to me: abutler@oltn.odl.state.ok.us. The deadline to send in the slogans and general themes to me is February 5, 2007. State representatives will vote at the April conference in Portland, OR.
