The comics have been mailed out to libraries who requested. They were dropped off at the post office Monday, April 28th, and sent first class, priority. Libraries should be receiving them very soon. Let me know if you haven’t received your order by Thursday.
Enjoy!
The US Postal Service has delayed the shipping of the comic books by one day. They are being shipped first class priority mail, but they will get to you later than I had hoped. Please be on the look out for them. The packages will have this printed sticker:
ATTN: Youth Librarian
Enclosed Material for Free Comic Book Day
5/5/2007
If the comics don’t reach you in time for Saturday, please make them available to your patrons when you can.
The comic books have arrived and are at ODL to be sorted. We will work like mad getting them into envelopes and into the mail to everyone by Monday.
My previous formula of how many comics libraries will get wasn’t working. So, I took the total number of comics and the total number of libraries and divided the numbers. Each library will receive 24 comic books. There are 10 titles. System libraries: each branch gets 24 so multiply your number of branches by 24 and that’s your total.
Next year will be much better. Please e-mail me with the following information after May 5th:
If,
- you did any promotion,
- you set up a display and where in the library it was set up,
- the reactions and comments from the teens,
- and whether knew or were aware of Free Comic Book Day before this year.
I’ll be a little slow in answering e-mails and returning phone calls for a few days. I will get back to you.
And, the winners are:
- Stillwater Public Library
- El Reno Carnegie Library
- Hennessey Public Library
- Eastern Oklahoma Library District
Thanks for playing everyone! I still have more posters and stickers to give away, so keep checking back.
Have a good weekend!!
I only have two winner so far for the Free Comic Book Poster. I need two more. Send your e-mail to win. This contest ends at today at 4:00 pm CST Friday, April 20, 2007.
I checked with my comic book supplier and this is what I know so far:
- He is expecting the comics in on Monday, April 23rd. After processing, he expects to have them ready by Wednesday.
- I will pick them up and get them in the mail towards the end of next week and the beginning of the week after. I ordered 5,000 comics for all the libraries. I’m still working on how many each library will get.
I’d like to know how your Free Comic Book Day goes, so e-mail or call me after May 5th. Tell me if:
- you did any promotion,
- if you set up a display and where in the library it was set up,
- the reactions and comments from the kids,
- and if you knew or were aware of Free Comic Book Day before this year.
